Data notes
Amendment filings
Financial figures, officers and officer pay reflect amendment filings.

|---|---|
isCorrected | Whether an amendment changed the value |
sourceDocumentId | The filing the value comes from |
Amendments to filings past their EDINET public inspection period cannot be retrieved and may therefore not be reflected.
Filings older than their inspection period (five years for annual securities reports) can no longer be downloaded from EDINET. Older fiscal years are more likely to retain pre-amendment values.
Where a correction could be confirmed against a published source, it has been applied on the
server and the affected row carries the source URL (correctionSource, payCorrection).
How values are chosen
- Consolidated figures are preferred, falling back to standalone
- Where several filings cover the same period, one amendment-applied value is chosen
- Accounting standards (Japanese GAAP, IFRS, US GAAP) differ by company. Each data point
carries
accountingStandard - Ratios are decimals (
returnOnEquityof 0.101 means 10.1%) - Capital expenditure and dividends paid are outflows and therefore negative
Differences arising from Japanese disclosure rules
| Item | Explanation |
|---|---|
major_shareholders | Shareholders are listed as registered, so trust bank accounts appear at the top |
institutional_holders | Only institutions holding over 5% that filed a special report |
companyOfficers[].totalPay | Only officers paid 100 million yen or more are disclosed individually; others are None |
totalRevenue | Maps to different line items by industry (net sales, operating revenue, ordinary revenue) |
insider_roster_holders | Shareholdings as of the annual report, once a year. Not a transaction history |
Language
English is the default. Company names come from the English name registered with EDINET, and industries from JPX’s English names.
Values with no English source — business descriptions, officer names and titles, shareholder names, document types and titles, market segments — are returned in Japanese under either setting. No machine translation is applied.
Companies that have not registered an English name (about 23% of listed companies) are returned with their Japanese name.
Known issues
| Issue | Affects | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Headcount in the metrics is sometimes the standalone figure rather than consolidated | get_jp_financials() NumberOfEmployees | Some annual reports omit headcount from the consolidated selected-data section. info["fullTimeEmployees"] and employees come from the workforce section and are consolidated |
insidersPercentHeld is omitted for some companies | major_holders | By design — the unit of the officers’ shareholdings could not be read, and jfinance does not guess |
| Fund holdings, asset allocation and expense ratios are missing | funds_data | Present only in the body text of filings, not extracted as data |
| Semi-annual report periods span the full fiscal year | report_filing_dates | The value is taken from EDINET’s filing index as-is |
| No dividend record dates or AGM dates | — | Only 36 filings carry a record date in XBRL, and there is no element for the AGM date |
